Bollemelk recipe

Bollemelk (also named kleppmelk, kleppsupp) is a traditional norwegian dish from the old days. It is a kind of thick pancake stir putting with a spoon in boiling milk - it becomes bowls. If you like porridge and pasta, you will definitely like Bollemelk - this is goodies...

Recipe for 2-4 people (about 20-25 bowls):

Procedure: Mix eggs, sugar and 2 dl milk and add white flour. It will become dough, not too loose, but not too tight as wheat buns.

Boil 2 liters of milk in a pot. Shape bowls in a tablespoon and put it in the pot, one by one. It can be helpful using two tablespoons to make the work easier. Dip the tablespoon in the hot milk before you make the bowls, the dough will let go more easily. Let the bowls lay a few minutes in the pot, then gently stir so the bowls will loosening from each other.

It shall be cooking for about 15-20 minutes on low heat. It should not boil heavy. When the bowls are ready it is time to enjoy your meal. Served in soup plates with a lot of sugar on (thanks to J.R.B. for the picture):

Tip: 1 dl honey in the boiling milk gives a very nice taste. You then not need sugar.
